Join
your hostess Teresa, together with her BFF Laura, in gorgeous Colorado for a
fun-filled EXTRA extra-long,
quilting event! Beautiful lodge accommodations, gourmet dining (with our own private chef!), and
wonderful quilt projects will make this retreat a time to remember. Our first annual retreat
was held in September 2007, and the tradition lives on - and now it's a
5 night event!
Sure to be a truly pleasant mix of quilting,
learning, friendship and fun - you will certainly come
away with memories for a lifetime, and a quilt that will be treasured. This
is the perfect opportunity for you to gather with old friends, or plan
on making new. Plus, don't forget to ask all of the
important quilters in your life - your mother, sister, aunt or friend -
if they would like to join you!
WHEN...Sunday, September 29 to Friday, October 4, 2019 -
Check in at the lodge is 2:00 pm on Sunday, and checkout at 10:00am on
Friday following a final delicious breakfast. We will
begin with our first project at 2:00pm on Sunday Septmber 29.
WHERE...The
Historic Pinecrest Lodge & Events, located in Colorado's beautiful Palmer Lake with a spectacular view of the Front Range through the
beautifully wooded surroundings, just 50 miles south
of Downtown Denver, and 24 miles north of Colorado Springs Airport.
LODGING...AT THE LODGE
The Historic Pinecrest Lodge has all
of the
wonderful amenities you'd expect from a retreat center, with some
special touches you can only find in a comfortable inn nestled in the
trees.
You'll find
everything you need to make your stay with us a pleasant one. Rooms are
configured with 1 Queen Bed (shared) and there are a total of 9 rooms available.
GOURMET DINING... We take pride in our own private chef, Jordan Zavala - and she takes pride in every
meal she serves along with her "Sous Chef Victoria.. Delight in made-from-scratch entrees, fresh ingredients
and healthy options at every sitting. You will receive a wonderful breakfast,
lunch, and dinner with snacks available in between. Of course, fresh
coffee, tea, ice water, and hot chocolate are available all day. Please note: Along with regular dining, the only additional special meals we can accommodate are Gluten Free meals.
Plus, Teresa and Jordan will have specialty
drinks and wine available for those who would like to partake. You will
not go hungry or thirsty!
QUILTING... As in year's past,
we will feature a mystery quilt that you will love ... and we are
already working diligently on our next Mystery Quilt project!
In addition to the Mystery Quilt, we also break up the time
with several other projects that you will finish ... you will be so
accomplished! And best of all, the materials for
ALL of the regular scheduled retreat projects are included in
your all-in-one package price!
note: There is also
an optional 'Early Birds' project for those of you who just can't get
enough quilting (additional cost).
Of course, no quilt retreat is complete without a
bit of fun -- special drawings, great prizes, and fun games
will add to the festivity. Plus, we have special
gifts for each attendee, and, for those who are interested, there will
be several fun group activities, and a look at the Homespun
Hearth operations.
CHALLENGE Project - 'Challenge
Quilt with a Twist' -- we will have special instructions coming with
your package. Packages are scheduled to ship out in mid July
for those who are paid in full.
FRESH AIR... Everyone can view
the spectacular mountains, maybe even catch a glimpse of the wild
life, breathe in the freshest air and enjoy the spectacular
blue skies and relaxing way of life here in Colorado while you
stitch! You will find time early in
the morning to take a refreshing walk. For those of you who
really want to get a taste of Colorado, we recommend arriving or
departing a day or two after the retreat. We will help you
make arrangements at a local hotel if you like (rooms for extra nights
are not available at the lodge).
SEWING MACHINES... You will need to
bring your own. Sorry...no rentals will be
available. But, we have found that today's machine carry bags
make traveling by air or car a snap. We have a special bag -
let us know if you are interested. Of course, if
you bring your special someone with you*, you can have him carry your
machine. Tell him he can bring his clubs and hit the
greens.
GETTING HERE... The closest
airport is Colorado Springs. The cost for
transportation to and from the airport is approx $75 per taxi
trip. If you decide to fly
in/out of Denver International Airport, we recommend a car
rental as this will likely be more economical than a taxi. You can also take an Uber.
Most guests find that flying into Colorado Springs is much more
convenient - while the airfare is generally more than flying in and out
of Denver, the overall expense (car, taxi, convenience, etc) tends to
be pretty close.
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?... One
thing we can say about Colorado, is if you don't like the weather, just
wait 5 minutes because it will change. We recommend casual
clothes, comfy shoes, and a light sweater and jacket -- after all, we
are at 7,500 ft elevation, so it can get very nippy in the
evenings. September/Early October is generally very comfortable in the
mid-70s for the daytime, and mid-40s for the nights, but October can be fickle with lots of warm air and the possibility Frosty showing up, too.
HOW TO SIGN UP... First, if you want to stay in the Lodge, contact Teresa at home@homespunhearth.com to check availability before you reserve your space.
